Indications:
Meronem is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children aged 3 months and older:
• Severe pneumonia, including hospital and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
• Broncho-pulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis
• Complicated urinary tract infections
• Complicated intra-abdominal infections
• Intra- and post-partum infections
• Complicated skin and soft tissue infections
• Acute bacterial meningitis
Meronem may be used in the management of neutropenic patients with fever that is suspected to be due to a bacterial infection.
Treatment of patients with bacteraemia that occurs in association with, or is suspected to be associated with, any of the infections listed above.
Contra-indications:
Serious adverse reactions are rare, and the following adverse reactions can be seen in clinical trials:
1. Allergic reaction: mainly rash, itching, drug heat and other allergic reactions; Anaphylactic shock is seen occasionally.
2. Digestive system: mainly diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
3. Liver: occasionally abnormal liver function, cholestatic jaundice and so on.
4. Kidney: occasionally dysuria and acute renal failure.
5. Central nervous system: occasionally insomnia, anxiety, confusion, vertigo, nervousness, paresthesia, hallucinations, depression, spasms, consciousness disorders and other central nervous system symptoms. It has been reported abroad that occasional seizures can be induced after medication.
6. Blood system: occasionally gastrointestinal bleeding, nose bleeding and abdominal hemorrhage and other bleeding symptoms.
7. Injection can cause local pain, redness, indentation, severe cases can cause thrombotic phlebitis.
Precautions & Warning:
1. Carbapenem antibiotics, penicillin or other β-lactam antibiotics with caution in patients with allergic infection.
2. Dose adjustment is not necessary for patients with liver dysfunction, and the liver function of patients should be carefully monitored.
3. This product is not recommended for infection caused by methicillin-resistant staphylococcus, penicillin allergy to skin test
4. In the course of antibiotic use, it may cause mild to life-threatening pseudomembranous colitis. In patients with diarrhea or increased abdominal pain after meropenem use, pseudomemmenous colitis caused by Clostridium difficile should be confirmed, and other factors should be carefully considered.
5. When treating pseudomonas aeruginosa infection, drug sensitivity tests should be routinely carried out.
6. When meropenem is used in combination with drugs with potential renal toxicity, it should be noted that this product can be cleared by hemodialysis. If the condition requires continuous use of this product, it is recommended to give the full dose after hemodialysis according to the condition to achieve an effective plasma concentration; For peritoneal dialysis patients, there is no experience in the use of this product.
7. Meropenem should not be frozen. Shake evenly before use; This product should be used once after preparation.
