| For the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris and Morrhiza sensitive strains; Acute otitis media caused by streptococcus pneumoniae or haemophilus influenzae in children over 2 years old. |
| Usage & Dosage: |
| Common oral adult dosage: for bacterial infections, 160mg trimethoprim and 800mg sulfamethoxazole are taken once every 12 hours. |
| The usual dosage for children should not be used for infants under 2 months. For the treatment of bacterial infection, infants over 2 months old and weighing less than 40kg should be given SMZ 20 to 30mg/kg and TMP 4 to 6mg/kg once per body weight, once every 12 hours; The dose for children weighing 40kg is the same as that for adults. |
| Contra-indications: |
| It is prohibited for those allergic to SMZ and TMP. Patients with megaloblastic anemia, pregnant and lactating women, infants less than 2 months old, and severe liver and kidney function impairment are prohibited. |
| Adverse Effects: |
