Indications:
Azithromycin tablets are macrolide antimicrobialdrugs. Suitable for bronchitis, pneumonia and other lower respiratory tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria; Skin and soft tissue infections; Acute otitis media; Sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and other upper respiratory tract infections.
Contra-indications:
Contraindicated in patients allergic to azithromycin, erythromycin, other macrolide antibiotics, or any excipient.
Precautions & Warning:
Anaphylaxis:
As with erythromycin and other macrolides, severe allergic reactions such as angioedema and anaphylactic shock reactions (rarely fatal), as well as skin reactions including Stevens Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis (rarely fatal) have been reported. Some reactions caused by azithromycin may occur repeatedly and require a longer period of observation and treatment. If allergic reactions occur, this product should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be given. Doctors should be aware that allergic symptoms may reappear after symptomatic treatment is stopped.
Hepatotoxicity:
Because the liver is the main pathway of azithromycin clearance, azithromycin should be used cautiously in patients with obvious liver disease. Abnormal liver function, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, liver necrosis and liver failure have been reported, in some cases resulting in death. If signs and symptoms of hepatitis develop, azithromycin should be discontinued immediately.
Treatment/antidote in The Event of Overdose:
Regardless of infection, the maximum total dose of azithromycin in children is recommended not to exceed 1,500 mg.
Azithromycin tablets should only be used in children weighing more than 45 kg, with the same usage and dosage as adults.
Pharmacokinetic data in children suggest that 20mg/kg in children is equivalent to 1200mg in adults, but the Cmax value is higher.
