Chloramphenicol Ear Drop 5% 10ml
Indications
Chloramphenical ear drops are indicated for the short term treatment of infections in otitis externa due to chloramphenicol-sensitive organisms in patients with intact tympanic membranes.
Warnings:
This medicine is not to be taken by mouth.
After administering the ear drops you should lie with the affected ear uppermost for at least ten minutes to avoid the drops running out. After this time you can put some cotton wool into the ear to get on with normal activities.
These ear drops should not be used for longer than one week, as they could possibly become less effective or produce allergic reactions if used over a long period of time.
Any remaining ear drops should be carefully disposed of four weeks after the first opening as they are likely to be contaminated.

The dose of otic chloramphenicol will be different for different patients.

For infections of the ear canal:
Adults and children Use 2 or 3 drops in the affected ear two to three times a day.
