Doxycycline is clinically effective in treating various infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria and other micro-organisms, including:
It is also useful in treating ophthalmic infections, rickettsial infections, and other infections. Additionally, it can be used as an alternative drug for leptospirosis, gas gangrene, and tetanus.
Recommended for scrub typhus, travelers' diarrhea, leptospirosis, and malaria prevention.
Posology:
Adults and children aged 12 years to less than 18 years: Initial dose of 200mg followed by 100mg/day maintenance dose. Severe infections may require 200mg daily.
Children aged 8 years to less than 12 years: Use justified when other options are limited.
Method of Administration: Swallow capsules with plenty of fluid while in a resting or standing position.
Avoid in cases of hypersensitivity, pregnancy, and nursing mothers.
Considerations for pediatric patients, impaired hepatic function, renal impairment, skin reactions, photosensitivity, and more.
Be cautious with antacids, penicillin, warfarin, barbiturates, and other medications.
Store below 25°C in a dry place.
